Honor your horse and the bond you share by commissioning a one of a kind ceramic vessel created using your horse’s hair. Each piece is a collaboration between you, your horse, and the fire.

You will begin by selecting your vessel size and shape, or you can leave those creative decisions to us. Once you send a small amount of your horse’s hair, we create the piece with your horse’s spirit, movement, and energy in mind. The vessel is then fired using the traditional raku process.

At the peak of the firing, while the piece is glowing red hot, your horse’s hair is carefully placed onto the surface. As the keratin in the hair touches the hot clay, it instantly sizzles and burns, leaving behind delicate carbon trails. These markings are completely organic and impossible to replicate, creating a permanent record of that moment and that relationship.

Throughout the process, we document the making and firing of your vessel. You will receive a video showing your piece being created and fired, offering a behind the scenes look at the transformation from clay to finished artwork. If you would like a more personal experience, a custom video focused on you and your horse can be created if you provide additional information about your horse, your story, or your relationship.

The result is a deeply personal and completely unique art piece that captures memory, connection, and transformation through fire.

Important Care Note
Due to the porous nature of horsehair raku, these vessels are not watertight. They are best displayed as statement pieces or used with dried flowers. If you would like to display fresh flowers, a smaller watertight vase or liner can be placed inside the piece.

Each vessel is handmade, fired, and finished with intention. No two will ever be the same, just like the bond you share with your horse.
