Denver, CO | 2-Hour Private Session

This private wheel throwing class is a relaxed, hands-on introduction to ceramics, designed for 1–2 participants who want focused, personalized instruction. Whether you are brand new to the wheel or looking to refine and refresh your skills, this two-hour session is tailored entirely to you.

Classes take place in Alex’s garage pottery studio in Denver, creating a comfortable, low-pressure environment where you can slow down, ask questions, and really learn the fundamentals. You do not need to worry about cleanup at all — Alex handles everything after you leave, so 100% of your time is spent learning, experimenting, and playing with clay.

During the session, we cover all the essential wheel throwing techniques, including:

  • Choosing and preparing clay
  • Understanding the pottery wheel and throwing tools
  • Wedging and centering
  • Pulling walls, shaping, and finishing forms
  • Optional trimming instruction, if desired

Each participant may keep up to three finished pieces. Additional pieces can be purchased if you would like to keep more of what you make. After the class, Alex handles the full finishing process, including drying, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing. You will receive a text when your pieces are ready for pickup, typically 3–4 weeks after your session.

This experience is ideal for:

  • First-time potters curious about getting into the hobby
  • Creatives looking to reconnect with clay
  • People looking to refresh or hone their wheel skills
  • Couples or friends who want a private, focused experience

Alex teaches wheel throwing at a local ceramics studio and regularly hosts hands-on workshops around Denver. He also has an upcoming ceramics residency in 2026 at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, where he will continue exploring functional pottery and alternative firing techniques.
